Who we are

This website (votenoons.org) is run by United for Fresno, a committee opposing Measure S on the November 3, 2026 Fresno County ballot. United for Fresno decides how the information described here is used (under the GDPR, it is the "controller"). You can reach us at unitedforfresno@gmail.com.

What we collect

Information you give us: the pledge form

If you take the pledge, we receive your name, your email address or mobile number (whichever you enter), your 5-digit ZIP code, and the language of the page you used. The form is optional. You can read the whole site without filling it in.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider records technical details of each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time.
  • Spam protection. To limit abuse of the pledge form, your IP address is held in server memory for up to 10 minutes and then discarded.
  • Error reports. If something breaks, our error monitoring service receives technical details (browser, page, error message) and may receive a short replay of the moments around the error. Replays mask all text and block all images, so what you type or read is not captured.
  • Analytics, only if you agree. With your consent, Google Analytics records how the site is used, such as pages viewed, the language switch, quiz answers and clicks on share and source links. IP anonymization is turned on. Analytics never receives what you type into the pledge form.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers, financial account details, precise location, health information, or information about how you vote.

How we use it

  • Pledge information: to count pledges and to send you the reminder you asked for before Election Day.
  • Server logs, spam protection and error reports: to keep the site running, secure and free of abuse.
  • Analytics (with consent): to understand which pages and facts are useful, in totals, so we can improve the site.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the site shows no ads.

Who receives it

We use a small number of service providers that process information on our behalf and only for the purposes above:

  • Vercel: hosts the website and keeps server logs.
  • Imaginarii: our web developer's form service, which delivers pledge submissions to the committee's email inbox.
  • Google (Google Analytics): site analytics, only after you consent.
  • Sentry: error monitoring and site security.
  • Google (Gmail): hosts the committee's email inbox, where pledge emails arrive.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request. California and federal campaign law require committees to report contributions; this website does not take contributions or payments.

Cookies and browser storage

When you first visit, we ask before using analytics cookies. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing optional loads until you choose. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a choice to opt out and analytics stay off.

Strictly necessary (always on)

  • noons.consent (your browser's local storage): remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again.
  • noons.lang (local storage): remembers whether you chose English or Spanish.
  • noons.ballot-banner (local storage): remembers that you closed the "ballot is in the mail" notice.
  • Error monitoring (session storage, cleared when you close the tab): used by Sentry only to report errors and protect the site.

Analytics (only with your consent)

  • _ga and _ga_<ID> (cookies, set by Google Analytics): tell visits apart so we can count them. They expire after up to 2 years. If you later reject analytics, we delete them.

How long we keep it

Pledge information: kept until the campaign closes, and no longer than 12 months after the November 3, 2026 election, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Spam-protection data: up to 10 minutes. Server logs and error reports are kept by our providers for their standard, limited periods. Analytics cookies expire after up to 2 years.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. Political committees may not be covered by these laws, but we honor these requests from every visitor:

  • Right to know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why, and who received it.
  • Right to delete personal information we collected from you.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share it, and we honor Global Privacy Control as an opt-out.
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect it.
  • Right not to be treated differently for using any of these rights.

To make a request, email unitedforfresno@gmail.com. We will confirm your request using the contact details you gave in the pledge form, and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that they act for you.

Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, email or phone, IP address), general location (ZIP code), and internet activity (pages viewed and site interactions, only with consent). Sources: you, and your browser. Purposes and recipients are listed above.

Do Not Track and changes (CalOPPA)

Browsers' "Do Not Track" setting has no common standard, and the site does not change its behavior in response to it. We do honor the Global Privacy Control signal, and analytics never load without your consent. We do not allow other companies to collect information about your activity across websites through this site, except Google Analytics after you consent.

To review or change the pledge information you sent us, email unitedforfresno@gmail.com. If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date at the top.

Visitors from the EU, EEA and UK (GDPR)

This site is about a Fresno County election and is meant for California voters, but if you visit from the EU, EEA or UK, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you these protections.

Why we are allowed to use your information (legal bases)

  • Consent: the pledge form (you choose to send it) and analytics cookies (you choose to allow them). You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: server logs, spam protection and error monitoring, which keep the site secure and working.
  • Legal obligation: when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of your personal information, object to how we use it, and withdraw consent without affecting earlier use. Email unitedforfresno@gmail.com; we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.

International transfers: we and our service providers are based in, or process information in, the United States. Where the GDPR applies, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

Children

This site is meant for voters and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, email unitedforfresno@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, the pledge form is checked and rate-limited on our server, and we keep no database of visitors. No method of sending or storing information is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
